Commits and branches

Branches panel

The Local branches panel lists your local branches. Press Tab to show it, or click its tab. Press Enter on a branch to list its commits. Select a commit to preview it in the main view. The preview reads like git show: the commit id, author, date, and message, above the diff of every file that the commit changes. Press Esc to go back to the branch list.

Review a commit

Press Enter on a commit, or double-click it, to open it in the Files panel. The review uses the same diff as the working tree, with review guidance, comments, and code navigation. A review is read-only, so stage and discard are off.

The file tree starts with a row for the commit. Select that row to see the commit id, author, date, and full message in the main view. While you review, the review is the only tab in the left column.

Press Esc to close the review and go back to the Branches panel, still on the reviewed commit. Press Tab to see the working tree again.

GitButler

deltoids gives every repository that GitButler manages a GitButler view. This includes single-branch mode, where no gitbutler/workspace branch exists.

  • The Branches panel becomes a Workspace panel. It shows each stack’s branches with their commits, like but status, and ends at the common base. A branch’s log stops at the base.
  • Unapplied branches are listed below the stacks. Press Enter on an unapplied branch to list its commits.
  • Press Enter on an applied branch to review all its commits as one diff. The file tree then starts with a row that shows each commit’s id, author, date, and message.
  • The Files panel shows all uncommitted changes in one column. Discard goes through but, so but undo brings the changes back.
